5 things to do in Huntsville, AL

You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to have a blast in Huntsville, AL, home to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center and Space Camp.

Places to visit:

  1. Visit U.S. Space & Rocket Center, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Admission. Open year round, closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, New Years Day.
  2. Take a walking tour through the Galaxy of Lights at the Huntsville Botanical Gardens, November 18-22, 5-7:30 p.m. Santa, refreshments, entertainment included in admission. Or, pile up to 10 friends and family members in a car and cruise for $20, Thanksgiving through Dec. 31, 5:30-9:00 p.m.
  3. Learn about Wernher von Braun’s life and work through “His American Journey.” This exhibit is included with general admission to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center until May 2012, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Admission. Promotions.
  4. Register for Space Camp; it isn’t just for kids. Since 1982, when the program began, more than 500,000 students and adults have experienced the unique educational opportunities in Space Camp. Admission is not for every budget.
  5. Leave hand prints all over the Early Works Children’s History Museum. Take invitations to touch and experience history to heart in ways that excite the mind.
